Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator

Aim of Qualification.

The aim of this qualification is to enable Learners to attain the knowledge and competencies needed to deal with the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Learners should be able to demonstrate the practical administration of safe use of the AED in emergency situations.

Intended audience.

This qualification is designed for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to use an AED when dealing with an emergency situation.

Course Content.

  • Be able to demonstrate CPR and the safe use of an AED.

  • Understand safety considerations when using an AED.

Course Duration.

1/2 Day.

Requalification Requirements.

The Safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator qualification is only valid for a period of 1 year, within which time the learner will need to re-take the course and the assessment in order to remain qualified.

Includes all course resources, first aid manual, certificate fees and light refreshments throughout the day.
